Parallel Lives. Pierluigi Spadolini and the Florentine Design and Technology School

Abstract

To retrace the development of design in Florence in the second half of the 20th century, which saw among its protagonists Pierluigi Spadolini, Giovanni Klaus Koenig, Pier Angelo Cetica and other bright students, allows us to highlight how many common elements there were within the various Italian schools of design and which, even today, can be regarded as food for thought. In particular, we want to focus on issues that can be considered, with some apparent differences, common and characteristic to Frateili and Spadolini, that is, the teaching of design in relation to other disciplines and, in particular, the relationship between history, projects, production, didactics, component values, circuit systems and the technique of superimposing two traces on transparencies to find similarities and differences.
