Abstract

Up to this day, the following contribution by Vanni Pasca held at the First International Congress of Historical Studies on Design (Milan, 1991), represents a paper of considerable relevance. Analyzing the main historical and historiographical theories and techniques related to design – and not only – he identifies critical paths and useful methodologies for research.

Vanni Pasca, Isia Firenze

Giovanni Pasca Raymondi (Vanni Pasca), graduated in architecture, was full professor of History of design. From 1998 to 2008 he was President of the three-year degree course in design and of the master's degree in design for the Mediterranean area in Palermo, where he was also coordinator of the research doctorate in industrial design. In 2008-09 he is professor in Milan of contemporary designers at the Politecnico, then of design at the IULM of Milan and at the ISIA of Florence. He founded and directed the online magazine «padjournal.net», formerly «palermodesign.it», with which he promoted the international Design Mediterraneo competitions in 2008 and 2010 (with exhibition and conference in Istanbul and Barcelona). He directs the Design book series for the Lupetti / Communication publishers. He directed the free magazine «Design Review», publisher Zerocento, Palermo. He is among the founders and past-president of AIS / Design.
