Abstract

If this issue is an opportunity to start a historicization of AIS / Design Journal: Storia e Ricerche, the contribution of Raimonda Riccini's "Cultures for Design Education" certainly cannot be missed. Published in the first issue of the journal (2013), the essay claims an essential role for historical knowledge in the training of designers and the culture of design, expanding and specifying the editorial program that Riccini promoted during her direction (2013-2021). More generally, the article offers a stimulating and current reading for those committed to giving meaning not only to the study and teaching of the history of design but more widely to design.
