9999: progettazione radicale orientata alla natura
Abstract
The season of the defined Radical groups that were formed in the Florentine environment in the sixth decade of the twentieth century, sees the 9999 group stand out from the others for its ecological vocation.
Criticism of contemporary society is expressed by combining confidence in a technological innovation capable of fostering democratic processes and, at the same time, the respect and enhancement of the natural environment.
The Apollo project, the project for the new headquarters of the University of Florence, the Vegetable Garden House selected for the exhibition Italy. The New Domestic Landscape of 1972 in New York and S –SPACE Mondial Festival n.1 – all published in the book Memories of Architecture – were chosen among the achievements of the group that can express his environmental sensitivity.
Here the relationship between history, art, technology, and nature is expressed – outside of the links with the company and with the commodity – as affirmation of an autonomous thought fruit of its own time and, at the same way, able to a vision of the future.
