Abstract

The Ahmedabad Declaration on Industrial Design for Development represents the testimony of a crucial moment for the recognition of the social potential of design. The document was drawn up from 14 to 24 January 1979 by a group of 130 delegates from all over the world who met at the invitation of UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization), ICSID (International Council of Societies of Industrial Design) and the Indian National Institute of Design.
