Abstract

The interview with Tomás Maldonado reported here was published in the supplement to n. 83 of Alfabeta (April 1986) entitled The Scenarios of Graphic Design (Gli scenari della grafica), edited by Giovanni Anceschi, Aldo Colonetti, Gianni Sassi (pp. V-VII).
In it, Maldonado highlights some of the key concepts of his thought: the concept of modernity and design; the significance of the social responsibility of the project; the active role of social dynamics in culture.
These are ideas and positions that must still be considered adequate for the times as well as a useful reference to the topics covered in this issue of AIS/Design Journal.
